The grounds are beautiful & serene; dogs run off-leash & you can sense their pure enjoyment. The chapel is designed with dog themes, including the weathervane & its a perfect place to see & feel the memorialized tributes of all the beloved furry friends that impacted their families. Although this place brought me to tears, it is a peaceful & soothing setting to sit & reflect.
Also, check out the gift shop with a touch of whimsy featuring artwork, crafts, clothing, etc from local artists, you'll definitely find something - even for cat lovers too. Check out the bathroom even if you don't need to use it!
This place is a GEM in Vermont! My Aunt recommended it and she was so right! Not only is the art and chapel a sight to behold but the nice trail walk is splendid too. We loved seeing all of the love for long lost fur kids. It brought tears to all of our eyes, not for the sadness but the beauty and love. We then walked the trails and as an amateur photographer I could have gone crazy with the views! This is a place to get family pictures, senior or pictures and a wedding would be fabulous at this spot! They have a dog pond to have the dogs swim and play ball too! The trail was easy for the kiddos and full of beautiful views with so many wild flowers. All through the trail was sculptures that truly added to the walk. We were there for about 3 hours and it wasn’t enough to just soak it all in, but we were on a time restriction. We made a donation to enjoy the grounds, based off their suggestions and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend to packing a lunch to have a beautiful picnic at this spot!
This spot was so beautiful and peaceful! I visited the gallery and the chapel, as well as walked around the grounds a little. They had trails to hike on that were very well groomed and a nice little pond with benches nearby. The chapel was breathtaking and a bit emotional, the walls are covered in photos and notes to passed pups from visitors. It was very quiet and peaceful while I read some notes, just a really wonderful experience! I want to go back and bring my pup, they would love it!
This place is great! There is ample grounds for the dogs to roam and play. There are beautiful mountain views as far as the eye can see. One of the best things about Dog Mountain is the Chapel. It is a place to honor and remember man's (or woman's) best friend. The Chapel has thousands of pictures, notes, and cards honoring pets of all breeds. It is a really cool place that is worth checking out if you come to Vermont!
My girl and I both love this place so much. The expansive lawn, diverse trails, dog chapel, and dog gallery are all fantastic. If you're a dog parent, you must bring your furry child here! It's free to enter, but if possible, please buy some souvenirs or donate to support this dog paradise.
My dogs and I love Dog Mountain! We have been numerous times, even though it's over a four hour drive from us! We finally got to go for one of their summer parties and had an absolute blast! They have lots of area for dogs to run and play and swim and a Chapel dedicated to our passed pets that anyone can add to.
Went yesterday during a major holiday and a Monday so the chapel wasn’t open. The grounds are open even though Google said Dog Mountain is closed. Just and fyi the grounds are open daily. It’s just the chapel that is closed. My pup had a wonderful time running around off leash. The other pups who were there off leash were calm and didn’t bother with other dogs. It’s not like dog parks where owners don’t seem know their own dog’s behavior. Met another person with the pup. I can’t wait to take the pup in the warmer months to check out Thor activities. This is such a special place. Well worth the long drive. So calming and beautiful to be there with the mountains in the background.
A friend recommended stopping here while we were in the area. Very cool spot. It was raining, so we did not explore the trails, but the Dog Chapel was beautiful and moving. The art gallery was interesting to wander through as well. I would definitely recommend stopping here and wandering this beautiful farm and art gallery, especially if you love dogs.
